Today only – May 24th – there’s still time to help stop Health Canada’s proposal to download responsibility for food safety assessment to food product developers.
Please send a message today that this is an unacceptable proposal. The changes proposed for regulating genetically modified organisms (GMOs) would jeopardize food safety, result in less transparency by the agri-food industry, and further erode public trust in the food supply and government regulation.
We need mandatory, independent safety assessments of all genetically engineered foods, including those produced by the new genetic engineering techniques of genome editing. Our friends at the Canadian Biotechnology Action Network (CBAN) have prepared this backgrounder if you’d like to learn more.
Demand that Health Canada conduct mandatory safety assessment of all genetically engineered food entering our market place.
