Strong Action Needed Now!

Tell Environment and Climate Change Minister Julie Dabrusin to stop plastic pollutionΒ

Young boy standing is a field of plastic waste holding a sign that reads "Stop Plastic Pollution"

There’s no time to lose! This is the sixth negotiating meeting for the Global Plastic Pollution Treaty. It’s worrisome because the meeting last December was supposed to seal the deal to address the full life cycle of plastic including its production.

The main fossil fuel producers stalled the process – they want plastic production to grow. They can see huge profits in the projected growth of plastic production by 70% by 2040 if no treaty is agreed.

Concerned governments, scientists and the public can see more mountains of plastic waste, more polluting chemicals in vulnerable communities, and more invasion of our bodies by micro and nano-particles of plastic pollution.

Canada is a member of the High Ambition Coalition which has held firm to its commitment to address the full life cycle of plastic in the binding Treaty. At this critical time, we need to send Minister Dabrusin a clear and strong signal to hold fast to that position.
