10 years after the Fukushima nuclear disaster – The reality of the workers in the Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant

Next year marks 10 years since the Great East Japan Earthquake struck Tohoku region on March 11, 2011 and the subsequent nuclear accident at TEPCO’s Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant.

The accident robbed people of their lives, livelihoods, communities, and precious time with their families, in a rich natural environment. The accident still affects many people. Despite considerable media coverage of the accident at the time, the world has not seen much about the workers who risked their lives to control the accident and clean up afterwards.

This webinar features award-winning journalist Natsuko Katayama, author of “Fukushima Workers Diary” (Fukushima Genpatsu Sagyoin Nisshi), and Mr. Gobo, a former worker at Fukushima Daiichi and listen to their stories.
