Climate chaos is here to stay
It’s a done deal – Canada is warming twice as fast as the rest of the world. Temperatures have increased more in northern Canada than in southern Canada, and more in winter than in summer.
It’s irreversible. And, drastic action is the only way to avoid catastrophic outcomes.
These are the key messages in a report by 43 Canadian scientists in Canada released in April 2019. They describe what to expect in the future. Deadly heatwaves and heavy rainstorms will become a common occurrence. Access to fresh water may be limited, due in large part to reduced winter snowfall, which in turn becomes a source of clean water when the snowpack melts.
